Cate Devine will be our host for the 2 day festival. As a ‘seasoned’ journalist Cate Devine has been covering developments in the Scottish food and drink scene for over 25 years, variously as a deputy monthly magazine editor; weekly magazine editor; women’s editor; daily newspaper commissioning features editor, senior feature writer and food writer; and latterly freelance contributor, broadcaster and interviewer.
Cate will be on hand to hold interviews, judge competitions, taste our fabulous produce and chair our Kitchen Corner Panel, a group of experts ready and waiting for to answer all your foodie queries in our Food and Drink Question Time.
Her freelance journalism has been published in The Times, The Sunday Times, The Herald, The Daily Record, The Sunday Post, The Caterer, The Staff Canteen, ft.com and The Telegraph.
After a year in France she started her journalistic career with BBC World Service radio then Robert Maxwell’s publishing empire in London before returning to Scotland. She has been a staffer with various titles and spent 19 years at The Herald. She was restaurant critic of Scottish Field magazine for 5 years. She has chaired and taken part in debates and events, including The Edinburgh International Book Festival and Aye Write!, and various food festivals.
Cate is a member of the Guild of Food Writers and a lifelong member of the NUJ (National Union of Journalists).
